shattered”

May 15, 2010

a few pieces in my studio that I am still working on that I hope will become iconic masterpieces.  Both of Lance Armstrong - the larger piece "Shattered"   (the grayscale image)  7 x 10.5 feet is really powerful.

Shattered is symbolic of  “no matter what the obstacle and hard a human being is pushed - they can power through the pain and win any battle..  Hand painted on textured canvas.

the voice of the living monument: a caring mom

March 1, 2010

This past week was great.

I thought a lot about the motivational words which will be a key feature of the monument. It occurred to me that the work needs to speak to people with a “personality and voice”.  Putting in quotes from famous athletes and the Livestrong manifesto is good start – but the piece needs to reflect the true organic inspiration and source these of words. And I found one that would honor not only Lance but his mom as well.  Read more here

recent commission of tim brown

It is this craftsmanship that Csorba captures the elusive mystery of Tim’s being — the spirit of being that animates the reality of his entire career into one work of art. Hand-painted acrylic on plastered board, 36” x 48”.

comments from the web

Be like a duck.

Remain calm on the surface and paddle like hell underneath.

Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.

comments from picasso

It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.  Are we to paint what's on the face, what's inside the face, or what's behind it?   Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth.

Bad artists copy. Good artists steal.

more great comments from picasso

I am always doing that which I cannot do,

in order that I may learn how to do it.

One must act in painting as in life, directly.

Some painters transform the sun into a yellow spot, others transform a yellow spot into the sun.

“Style & Grace” was completed on Feb 12,  2010.

I just needed a small break from my other projects – so I went back to this image of a gymnast that had so much power and energy.

It turned out to be a fantastic dynamic action painting of American gold medallist Shawn Johnson. The bold & loose brushstrokes capture her grace, power and style beautifully. The technique helps suspends this moment of athletic glory and she seems to be fixed in this height of expression forever.
